With Gregory and Mina attending the Townshend International School in Hluboká nad Vltavou in the Czech Republic and Joyce in her first year at the English National Ballet School in London, Emi was spending most of her time in London and Greg in Hluboká. Emi came to Hluboká in February, and Greg, Mina and Gregory were in London in March to celebrate Mina’s 16th birthday. Then we were all in Bulgaria to celebrate Mina’s birthday with Baba.

In April, Emi, Greg, Joyce and Mina flew to Rhodes for the wedding of our friends Lua and Sean.

With the warmer weather, Greg enjoyed bicycling along the Vltava River near our house on a European bicycle trail that stretches, in principle, from Finland to Italy.

In May, the apple tree in front of our house in Hluboká was blossoming, Emi and Joyce welcomed friends from Madagascar visiting London, and we were all together in the Czech Republic when friends from Bulgaria came to visit.

Cami and Mica at their school graduation in Oakland, California, in June, and Emi in London.

In July, we were in Bulgaria and then traveled to Chicago to visit Ian and his family.

We then flew to Mérida, Mexico, where we were invited by friends.

From Mexico we flew to California and stayed in the same rented house in Pebble Beach that we had enjoyed for several years, with its beautiful garden. Unfortunately, there was a major forest fire just south in Big Sur and the sky was smoky during of our stay, so we didn’t take many pictures.

In August, we were back in Bulgaria, where Gregory’s friend Merle from school joined us.

Back in the Czech Republic, Arthur came to visit us and we took him to see the castle near our house in Hluboká.

Emi, Joyce and Mina took a quick trip back to Sofia for the wedding of our dear friend Dessi.

In late August, school was starting for Gregory and Mina in the Czech Republic, and in September school was starting for Joyce in London.

In late October/early November, Greg, Gregory and Mina took a weekend trip to the Austrian Alps. Although it was mostly rainy, there was a nice day for walking.

By mid-November, fall was coming to London. On 1 December we were all together in London to celebrate the twins’ birthday, including a party in Joyce’s flat for her classmates from the English National Ballet School.

We ended the year in Bulgaria with Baba in the village.
